Thank you! We’re flattered! We based our entire company around working with talented folks and we couldn’t be happier that there has been so much interest.
That said, we have far more inquiries from potential writers than we have space for in our publishing schedule. We’ve put together these guidelines for those interested in pitching new editions. Please note that we can’t consider inquiries that don’t meet the following stipulations.
First and foremost, we look for folks who have lots of experience creating brilliant, trustworthy recipes. Our authors include food writers, chefs, cookbook authors, food stylists, test kitchen cooks and more, but they all share one thing in common: their recipes are SOLID.
We seek writers that can turn around clean, brilliant copy on deadline, with a unique voice.
Your desired ingredient. This should be a single item that can be the focal point of many dishes. Right now we don’t plan on publishing Short Stacks based on food categories (pizza or ice cream, for example), nor other themes that aren’t a specific ingredient.
A few sentences on why you think you’re the person to write about this ingredient. Each Short Stack is a personal love letter from the author to the respective ingredient, so give us a sneak peek into your romance with your proposed ingredient.
A list of 5-10 proposed recipes that you would include in your edition. A quick one-sentence description is very helpful.
Examples of your previous recipe development and writing (no more than 5 please). Links to your clips and/or cookbook(s) are fine.
Thanks! Our editors will get back to you within two weeks.
